Balance Report: Tank it up!

With the previous installment of balancing, the hammer of nerfs fell hard on two clear candidates for it. On the one hand, the nerfing of Ava Nasseri was well received by the community, her disproportionate strength was evident. Leon Radic, on the other hand, not so much.

And the problem wasn’t that the card didn’t deserve a nerf, the problem was that many decks resorted to him for lack of a better tank when it came to easy access cards.

It is for this reason that we have rushed the next balance release to bring you changes that will allow you to cover this role in a better way without having to look for rare, legendary or unlocked cards.

Sofia Dunn, Assassin

Sofia has all the HP needed to be recruited as a tank for any of the yellow HQs. We think what’s keeping her off lists is her reduced attack. Too low to consistently trigger her healing ability. As of now we have raised her attack so that she has more to bring to the battle than good cardio. The decrease in HP seeks to compensate for the increase in value that the synergy between his new attack and the triggered ability that has been left intact can bring. Yes, it is 40 points less HP. But we must not lose sight of the fact that it is still a 300 HP character.

Grunting Grunts, Juicers

We have had to better define Grunting Grunts so that they can fill the tank role for green HQs. Increasing their base HP comes naturally. Changing their gender maybe needs a little context:

When a card represents a grouping, such as Vex Nation, Milly & Gilly or Shinjuku Gang, these cards tend to be defined as Non Binary since they contain members of different genders. When they are groups made up of Characters that belong exclusively to a particular gender, such as Poncho & Montgomery or Untamed Queens, then the card is given that particular gender. Grunting Grunts is a phalanx of Acolytes of the Needle that admits among its ranks some of the toughest Juicers in training… and of course they can admit women among their ranks as well, that allows us to seamlessly dabble in a new approach allowing Grunting Grunts to give support and resistance to The Elephant as Sofia does for Alexandria.

Kelsey K, Yoke

Kelsey K is already a good tank. We believe the reason she hasn’t earned the spot is because she fails to target her damage consistently. With a new direction for her range, she can hit the first slot much more effectively. A not minor detail in seeking to give better definition to this card is that now its ability to support Technologies will no longer be easily used by the rest of the Factions. We want Dogana, Binder Tattoo Studio and OS Ares to find their way, so we will start by taking Kelsey out of the equation to see how these decks behave and see if it is necessary to intervene with any of its pieces with a boost to help define the identity of each color by itself.

Reinhold, Hinger

We believe that in order for Reinhold to become the Tank he claims to be, he must become independent of the use of Technologies while raising his base HP. This adjustment to his toughness accompanied by his always remarkable base attack should be enough for red decks to not even remember that they once had to put an Undeviant on the table in order to resist the opponent’s siege.

With this patch we aim to keep pushing the opening of lists and give back to the players with less resources several alternatives to the tool they have lost due to last leveling delivery.
