Balance Announcement: what’s next?

Great strides have been made in terms of gameplay, competitive archetypal variety and the experience of our new and old players. But there is still a lot to do.

The balance patch we are preparing aims to:

  • Better level up the HQs.
  • Fix some cards that have a power level inconsistent with the difficulty involved in obtaining their NFTs.
  • Contribute to the ADEPT format with elements that help generate a metagame context as healthy as Standard or better.

With this in mind, we want to share with you which cards could be affected by the patch that is currently under development.

First, we have some HQs that we think are well aligned and have an identity. But, we think they need a little help: These HQs are likely to obtain Structure or have a slight improvement to the table impact of their abilidaties.

Then, Dogana: we need to do some tuning. we want to give more precision to your ability by reducing the gap between your strongest and weakest cases. we want to try a slightly softer version than the current one but fairer. Allowing you to get more value out of those cases where you have low RES on the table, while giving you a better chance of surviving your foes when you exceed 10 points of RES in a single Tech.

Reene’s, on the other hand, has generated some very interesting interactions with the table. We know that when someone proposes a toast at Reene’s, everyone raises their glasses… so we also know that when someone breaks a table, everyone pays for it.
The problem is that it has been common for the enemies of the bar to take advantage of that condition. Thus, we have decided to reserve the right of admission even if it means that we have to bear the costs alone as well.
In this way, we want to try a Reene’s that in the [STRUCK] only hurts allies. Any other changes, probably minor, that Reene’s may undergo as a result of the balancing process, will be in order to achieve a fairer game.

Finally there is The Unifier, we believe that the direct damage approach is not the right one for this HQ and we are going to rethink the identity of the Male HQ. So we are gonna try some crazy things that maybe could land this arquetype on a solid plan.

Dancing Dazer L2 didnt make it. It should be glorious! the effect DD had was not the desired one and we believe that partly explains why Awaken has left the metagame. That and the owners of critical NFTs like Spilling Nick L2 or Thomas Stelle preferred to play other lists. We are going to try to make DJ Baruc’s table work by taking away the bonuses from the opponent’s table and calibrating the rest of its components so that it doesn’t stop being a healthy card.

First Grader needs adjustment?. We need to try to make sure things doesnt go out of hands at the ADEPT context. We also know that every change we do, affects as well the Standard context. Thus, our intentions with First grader are to explore its possibilities. We believe that if the ADEPT context that we foresee has a clear tendency to favor green decks, this is an edge from which we could regulate such behavior more effectively. This would be only in case of extreme necessity and, if it occurs, it will always come with an adjustment rather than a decrease in its potential. We do not want to damage the work done with STANDARD. That is why, if like me, you have a First Grader L2, I invite you to remain calm, because it is unlikely to suffer any change and, if it happens, surely the new doses of the drug will have a different flavor but will not diminish its effectiveness.

We will also see if within the changes that are made, it is possible to improve some high rarity cards that are not meeting the expectations that we had of them. These adjustments also help us to start setting the stage and allow us to better focus on the L2 versions of these cards that are to come.

We want all HQs to see play in ADEPT. In this way, some of the HQs that we persist weaker could receive a helping hand through these cards.

  • Kutuzov Hold: The Warren
  • Dogana: Falstaff
  • WPD: C-14

We have chosen other cards to use in case we believe it is pertinent and necessary.

Finally there is Tadashi. We are seriously questioning the relationship this Character has with Technologies.

It is worth mentioning that these cards can be affected in multiple ways. We do not rule out that some of them may end up untouched. Nor do we rule out the deep rework of any of them when we consider that it would be best for the game. We clarify from now on, that if the focus of a card changes, this is independent of how its other levels behave. This means that if, for example, the nature or focus of Petrorian changes, this will not affect the characteristics of Petrorian L2.

Stay tuned.
