Crafting: Coming Soon
In the last installment of the Builder Toolbox, we addressed, in general terms, the natural way in which some cards get left out of the competitive scene. It gets hard to prevent certain cards not to make it to the competitive board. But we can do something about it.
Crafting recipes
Soon we will release the first crafting recipes, meaning the lists of components players need to access NFT cards not obtainable in any other way.
A crafting recipe will include a list of ingredients the player must deliver to obtain a particular NFT. This listing will typically consist of X number of copies of a particular card and X amount of DEVs.
In addition, a crafting recipe will be available for a limited time. It may last for weeks or a few hours. Cards crafted this way are new NFTs, aquired exclusively through crafting, or purchase to another player.
The candidates
Crafted cards will be improved versions of some of the cards included in the recipe. For example, we could have a recipe asking to exchange X number of copies of Vole and X amount of DEVs for a “Vole LvL 2”.
Our goal is to give use to those idle NFTs, while pushing the competitive scene towards more diversity.
Criteria
Only a few cards will be able to evolve. There are two main reasons for selecting a card and its recipe to be published.
Our team has been monitoring the decks submited in tournaments and their results. We have discovered evident trends of a metagame that is far from being solved, even though certain cards have decanted in staples while others do not make it past casual testing. In this way, we can shed light on those cards whose approach aligns with a particular strategy but whose low power prevents them from entering the top 8 of a list. Said cards will get selected for recipes that will allow players to obtain improved versions of the cards.
The second way a card gets selected for the crafter, and higher level version, is the Vox populi.
How?
We have seen Lore articles in which we introduce players to the dilemmas and hard choices that Deviants face. We saw Argiope putting Von Koenig and Nightress in the balance. We also saw Junkee decide whether his resources would go to San Amaro or Breeze.
